I'm a little concerned that the quality (and quantity) of blog entries is (in some cases) still not as consistently strong as I might hope, considering what I said earlier in the term, although there has been something of an upswing. I was hoping to see evidence of material being posted on a daily or semi-daily basis - although I am certainly seeing more from all of you, there's still a slightly patchy quality, particularly in terms of the "deeper" analysis/ discussion. Remember- the blog is worth 40% of your final practical mark overall (and is indelibly linked to your final exam); it is also, from my PoV, an expectation that you will spend at least 90 mins or so PER WEEK updating the thing outside of lessons. As well as all the planning you are supposed to be doing, you need to be considering the build up to the exam. You need to make sure that you are, for example, covering all five key concepts you will face in question 1b and all five technical aspects you will face in question 1a - I shouldn't need to prompt you to blog about this. You also need to include every step of your design/ production process - drafts, mock-ups, ideas - make sure these are evident. You can't just present finalised, fully-formed product, since this doesn't demonstrate the process you went through to create it. Storyboards are a vital component, as are shot lists, edit decision lists, rough cuts etc. - although most of you have these, there needs to be a degree of commentary: you need to include detailed analysis of your work throughout the process which explains both what you were trying to communicate and how it links directly to existent or new research - your work cannot exist in a vacuum and needs a clear framework. Without this stuff, your blog is never going to go beyond L2 or lower L3.
If you have fewer than 24 blog entries since the start of September, or if your existent blog entries lack the requisite detail, or if you don't have a balance of research, planning and exam prep, you should spend the current week revising/ improving these, as a priority.
You should certainly double check my blog post of 8th October (http://mediafram.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/what-should-you-have-on-your-blog.html) and have a look at each other's blogs (in the spirit of healthy competition and mutual support). Remember - if you're not sure of anything: ask!
